Castleland

Castleland Adventures

Castleland Description

In the heart of Queen Rachel Queensly's Queendom is Castleland. This idyllic, beautiful heart of the kingdom is situated in the foothills of the Valleyvale Mountains near the edge of the Deepwood Forest. The Brookstream River runs through this peaceful place, as does a major road bring people from all over the continent to trade and see the splendors of this land in the middle of the queendom's golden age.

The lounge of dragons that made its lair in the Valleyvale Mountains have been making more and more appearances of late, making the people nervous and threatening the generations-long peace that has nestled this land like a warm blanket. People are nervous leaving their own homes, even in the daytime, and Queen Rachel has even considered cancelling the Moonlight Festival, an event that has happened this time every year for over six hundred years. She hopes to avoid breaking the tradition, but the safety of her people is her second priority, second only to very nice shoes. She has gathered military captains, merchants, guild leaders, wizards, sages, and all other leaders in the queendom to counsel with her about what they can do about this new draconic threat.

Soldiers, strong and skilled, stand ready to fight, but generations of peace have left them unprepared. They lack armor and shields and would need some to be crafted from cured leather to be able to take up arms. The academy of magic, clever and wise, also stand ready to fight, but they have a different problem. All of their war spells would be ineffective against the dragons without the amplifying effects of special gems placed at the ends of their magical staves. Though they will be difficult to find, the more gems found, the better.

In this place you will be able to go to the nearby village of Townton, where smiths are eager to provide generous amounts of gadgets to any that come and pay him a visit. The wizard's tower on the other hand cannot be quite as generous. As they save their magic resources for the upcoming struggle, they will only sparingly give of their magic. Visit them early if you wish to acquire magic in this scenario. You can also visit the trading post to trade resources. Leather for armor can be found in the pastures in the foothills, and sparse gems can sometimes be found in the banks of the Brookstream River. Additionally, you may also try your luck by going on an adventure into the Deepwood, where you'll encounter many creatures, some trustworthy, and some not as much so.

As the queendom prepares for battle against these vicious dragons, the warriors and wizards of Castleland are ready to do their part. Once you collect two leathers then you supply one unit of soldiers, each of which gives you 1 point token. Also once you collect two gems then you supply one circle of mages, each of which gives you 1 point token as well. Your success in Castleland could be the sole deciding factor in the entire upcoming battle!

The best of luck to you, adventurers! The fate of the queendom depends on your ability to gather these things.

CASTLELAND DICE GAME

The dice game in the Castleland is fairly simple and is a simulation of panning for gold. Sometimes, when you pan for gold you get almost nothing. Other times you come away with a nice haul. Achieve a roll value higher than the amounts indicated on the map and you’ll get the corresponding benefits. For example, if you are the first player to pan for gold then:

  1. Roll a 3-6 and you’ll get prize A (which is 2 gold, 1 gem and 1 point token).

  2. Roll a 1-2 and you’ll get prize B (which is 1 gold and 1 gem).

The second player has the same potential prizes but will have to roll a 4-6 to get prize A (instead of a 3-6) or a 1-3 to get prize B. Any player after that will have to roll a 5-6 to get prize A, or a 1-4 to get prize C (1 gold).
